Summer Meadow

I’ve become quite passionate about helping all the animals of the forest, and meadows are an important part of that ecosystem. So it was only natural that one meadow ended up as an oil painting. This one turned out better than I expected – it feels as if a sunny summer day is basking in the meadow.

The painting started with a rather bold underpainting. Already at this stage, you can see at the top how I began sketching in the sense of distance towards the upper edge.

Here it is a day later. The daisies have found their places, and the light and shadow are starting to fall into place.

Two months later, I was able to get back to the painting. Now it’s finished, and it’s lovely to admire as the light plays across it in different ways. The painting always looks different depending on the light.
